Bahrain Economy Update – December 26-2023
Bahrain’s economy grew by 2.45% in the third quarter of 2023. This was the highest since the last quarter of 2022. It followed a 2% rise in the previous quarter. The non-oil sector went up by 4.48%. Hotels and restaurants had the most growth (9.36%). Financial corporations grew by 8.36%. The trade sector grew by 5.9%. Real estate and business activities grew by 2.8%. The growth in hotels and restaurants was due to more people staying in four and five-star hotels. The number of people staying overnight increased by 17.9%. The oil sector, however, shrank by 6.8%. The GDP decreased by 2.43% on a quarterly basis. This was a change from the 6.56% growth in the previous quarter.
