Euro Stoxx 50 Unchanged – December 20 – 2023

On Wednesday, stock markets across the Eurozone saw a steady day, mirroring the quiet trend of this week. They stayed near the 23-year highs reached last Friday. This calm atmosphere comes as investors are closely watching how the European Central Bank (ECB) and the Federal Reserve might change their monetary policies. The Euro Stoxx 50 ended the day unchanged at 4,537, while the broader pan-European index increased slightly by 0.3% to 478.

In economic news, Germany’s producer prices dropped more than anticipated last month. Consumer confidence remains low, as shown by the latest GfK data, but this has helped European government bonds recover a bit. In the UK, consumer inflation was unexpectedly low. On the company side, Flutter Entertainment stood out, jumping nearly 3% in value. Meanwhile, Airbus and Safran both fell over 1.4%, leading declines in the aircraft sector. SAP shares also dropped, losing 1.5%.
