French Unemployment News: Rise in Nov 2023

Reuters – In November 2023, France saw a slight rise in unemployment, with 5.2 thousand more people registered as jobless compared to the previous month, totaling 2.827 million. This followed a larger increase of 9.2 thousand in October.

Breaking it down by age, unemployment among those under 25 years old went up by 3.4 thousand to 0.393 million. For those over 50, the increase was 3.7 thousand, reaching 0.789 million. In contrast, unemployment among people aged 25 to 49 dropped by 2.7 thousand, down to 1.645 million.

Looking at gender differences, female unemployment rose by 2.3 thousand to 1.384 million, while male unemployment increased by 2.9 thousand to 1.443 million.

Compared to the same month last year, there was a decrease in the number of jobless individuals by 6.6 thousand.
