CAC 40 Slightly Up – December 20-2023
On Wednesday, the CAC 40 index saw a small increase, finishing up by 0.12% at 7,583. This happened as the holiday season approached and trading activity began to slow down. In another development, the UK’s inflation numbers came out lower than anticipated, boosting European government bonds significantly.
Also, the inflation rate in the Euro Area was confirmed at 2.4%, the lowest since July 2021. ECB President Christine Lagarde mentioned that December might see a rise in inflation, mainly due to rising energy costs. In terms of individual stocks within the CAC 40 index, Edenred led the gains with a 1.8% increase. On the other hand, Renault faced a decline, dropping 1.6%, and marking it as the index’s biggest fall.
